Starting The Wicked

A first note before week one: what I expect, what I don't know yet, and where I'll keep track of the work.
This is the first entry of my journal for The Wicked, an Imperial module that asks us to take on a wicked problem and document the journey of trying to solve it. I'll post here as the work moves forward. Sometimes that means a short note, sometimes a longer reflection, sometimes a photo of where I'm currently stuck.
The intention is honest documentation, not a polished case study.
What I'm bringing in
A few things I think will matter, though I'm willing to be wrong about each of them.
- The instinct to ship something rough fast, and learn from contact with reality, rather than refine in private.
- A bias for talking to real people early.
- Skepticism toward neat frameworks when the problem itself is messy.
What I'm hoping to leave with
A clearer view of the problem than I started with, a couple of artifacts that wouldn't exist without this module, and notes I'd still want to read in a year.
If you find this and want to talk, the contact form on the portfolio is the right way to reach me.
